How we begin

The first session involves creating together a counselling agreement.

This is to help address and anxieties about how therapy works, answers questions and remove doubts.

The first session involves me listening to what brings you to therapy, the presenting problem/issue and what you wish to achieve.

How we begin with Relationship Counselling

The first session involves creating together a counselling agreement. This is to help address and anxieties about how therapy works, answers questions and remove doubts. The first session involves me listening to what brings you to therapy, the presenting problem/issue and what you wish to achieve.

As we begin I use a more formal assessment form to help begin therapy which at the first stage, provides a framework to help begin conversations. We can also discuss the length of work – either a short term contract or an open ended agreement focused on the goals you wish to explore.

With Relationship counselling, the first session is an assessment to hear from both partners, what brings you to therapy, expectations and what both hope to achieve. The assessment also includes the counselling client agreement as above.

I may as we start with your consent, explore and explain some relationship dynamics and to see which ones you find yourselves identifying with.
