About Ian Baker Counselling

I believe in the individual and the responses I share between me and you, as central to what works in therapy.

This helps engagement and develops a relational depth, creating a safe encounter for therapy.

About me

I am a qualified, experienced counsellor and psychotherapist specialising in Sexual Addictions and Psychosexual Therapy as well as providing individual therapy and Relationships therapy.

I have spent many years working with people in the UK and overseas, from different and diverse backgrounds, age, ability, sexuality and mental well-being, which includes lone outreach support work for individuals with a brain injury and a nursing assistant at the local Hospice. I have also spent two years as a group facilitator for issues surrounding eating disorders.

Alongside my private practice, I used to work at Relate and I am a volunteer at a local hospice.

I believe in the individual and the responses I share central to what works in therapy. This develops a relational depth, creating a safe environment for therapy which allows people to explore what is bothering them, raising awareness and reflections on life. With support this invites a freedom to explore many difficulties. My honesty and congruence supports and invites an exploration as I remain alongside your journey of discovery.

I am a member of The British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP),

The College of Sexual and Relational Therapists (COSRT),

Association for the treatment of sexual addiction and compulsivity (ATSAC),

The Society for the Advancement of Sexual Health (SASH).

Member of Association for the Treatment of Sexual addiction and Compulsivity (ATSAC)

Member National Organisation for the treatment of Abusers (NOTA)

Member of Specialist Treatment Organisation for the Prevention of Sexual Offending (STOPSO)

I am working towards accreditations, regularly attend supervision and continuous professional development.
